by The Sedona Conference®

The Sedona Conference® Institute's 7th Annual e-Discovery Program, titled "Living on e-Discovery’s Cutting Edge," was held on March 21-22, 2013, at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego, California. Organized by The Sedona Conference®, a nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy, this event brought together legal professionals, judges, and industry experts to discuss the latest developments in e-discovery.

The program covered a range of critical topics, including the role of federal, state, and local rulemaking in e-discovery, significant federal court decisions from 2012 and early 2013, the impact of the Race Tires America case on e-discovery cost recovery, and the evolving ethics surrounding e-discovery practices. Additionally, sessions addressed the challenges and best practices related to social media discovery, proportionality in electronic discovery, and the preservation and production of database information in civil litigation.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with a distinguished faculty comprising seasoned litigators, in-house counsel, and federal judges. The event also featured networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with peers and industry leaders. Notable speakers included Colleen M. Kenney of Sidley Austin LLP, who served as the program chair, and Eric P. Mandel of Zelle Hofmann Voelbel & Mason, LLP, among others.

This program was particularly beneficial for litigators, in-house counsel, judges, and information management professionals seeking to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving field of e-discovery.
