National eDiscovery Leadership Institute 2016

by University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law

The National eDiscovery Leadership Institute (NeLI) is an annual conference dedicated to advancing the field of electronic discovery (eDiscovery) by providing high-quality educational opportunities to legal professionals and fostering cooperation between the bench and the bar. Organized by the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law, NeLI aims to deliver comprehensive programs that address the evolving challenges and developments in eDiscovery.

The 2016 NeLI conference featured a diverse agenda covering critical topics such as preservation and collection strategies, technology-assisted review (TAR), and the implications of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies on data control. Notably, the event included a mock hearing on TAR, presided over by Hon. Andrew J. Peck, and a panel discussion titled "The View from the Bench," moderated by Hon. Shira Scheindlin, focusing on sanctions, ethics, and various eDiscovery issues.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with esteemed speakers, including federal judges and leading eDiscovery practitioners, through interactive sessions and panel discussions. The conference also provided networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with peers and experts in the field.

Legal professionals involved in litigation, compliance, and information governance would benefit from attending NeLI to stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in eDiscovery, enhancing their ability to manage electronic evidence effectively in legal proceedings.
