New York State Permanent Commission on Access to Justice Technology Conference 2017
The New York State Permanent Commission on Access to Justice convened the 2017 Statewide Civil Legal Aid Technology Conference on June 12, 2017, at New York University School of Law. This annual event aims to educate civil legal services leaders across the state on leveraging technology to enhance the delivery of legal services and operational efficiency, while promoting collaborative use of technology among providers.
The conference featured a series of sessions covering a range of topics pertinent to the legal services community. The morning plenary included rapid-fire presentations on emerging technologies such as APIs, artificial intelligence, and the Open Referral Initiative. Subsequent project updates highlighted initiatives like the Justice for All Strategic Action Plan and LawHelpNY. Breakout sessions addressed challenges in tech policies, security, hardware, and networks, providing practical insights for attendees.
In addition to the informative sessions, the conference offered networking opportunities through lunch and table talks, where participants engaged in tabletop demonstrations and discussions of innovative tech projects. Peer-to-peer strategizing sessions allowed for targeted conversations on topics like machine translation, change management, and cloud-based solutions, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing experiences and strategies.
