by International Legal Technology Association

The International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) hosted ILTACON 2018, its 41st annual conference, from August 19 to August 23, 2018, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. This premier event brought together over 4,100 legal and technology professionals from law firms, corporate and government law departments, and academia to explore and discuss the latest advancements in legal technology and operations.

The conference featured more than 175 educational sessions covering a wide array of topics, including innovation, artificial intelligence, blockchain, data analytics, cloud computing, Office 365, and cybersecurity. Notably, Lisa Bodell, a globally recognized innovation leader and futurist, delivered the keynote address titled "Kill the Company: End the Status Quo, Start an Innovation Revolution," emphasizing the need for organizations to embrace change and foster innovation. The event also introduced seven multi-day deep dive series, providing in-depth exploration of these critical areas.

Attendees had ample opportunities for networking through various events held over the four days, including evening social gatherings and a dedicated ILTA member hub on the exhibit hall floor. The expo hall showcased over 60 product demonstration rooms hosted by business partners, featuring more than 200 exhibitors. Additionally, the Startup Hub highlighted 12 emerging technology disruptors and growth partners, offering insights into the future of legal technology. A one-day, invite-only G100 CIO Forum provided a platform for top law firm CIOs to discuss strategic initiatives and challenges.

ILTACON 2018 was designed for legal professionals, technologists, and innovators seeking to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving legal industry. The conference offered valuable insights into emerging technologies and practical strategies for implementing them within organizations, making it an essential event for those aiming to drive innovation and efficiency in legal services.
