2018 NAPABA Convention

by National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA)

The 2018 NAPABA Convention, organized by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), took place from November 8 to 11, 2018, at the Sheraton Grand Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. This annual event brought together over 2,000 Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law students, legal scholars, and elected officials from across the United States to celebrate NAPABA's 30th anniversary.

The convention featured more than 45 panels and plenary sessions covering a wide range of topics pertinent to the legal and Asian Pacific American communities. Key themes included civil rights, cybersecurity, and the intersection of legal practices with emerging technologies. Notably, sessions such as "From Civil Rights to Cybersecurity: How Racial, Religious and Political Profiling Led to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and What It Means for You" addressed critical issues at the forefront of legal discourse.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage in various networking events, including receptions and luncheons, fostering connections among legal professionals. The convention also highlighted an all-women speaker lineup for its Gala and plenary luncheons, emphasizing the achievements of women who have broken through male-dominated industries and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace.

This convention was ideal for legal professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge on contemporary legal issues, expand their professional networks, and engage with leaders advocating for the advancement of Asian Pacific Americans in the legal field.
