The International Conference on Law & Regulation of AI: A Global Perspective was organized by IFIM Law School, Bengaluru, in association with the Comparative Legislation Society, Paris, France. This inaugural event took place on February 25, 2019, at the IFIM Law School campus in Bengaluru, India. The conference aimed to address the emerging legal challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) and to foster dialogue among legal scholars, practitioners, and industry experts on the global implications of AI regulation.

The conference covered key topics such as AI and data privacy, exploring the balance between data collection for innovation and individual privacy rights. Discussions also delved into the use of AI as a decision-making tool, examining the potential for AI to enhance objectivity in judicial processes and the legal liabilities associated with AI-generated decisions. Additionally, the event addressed the regulatory frameworks necessary to govern AI technologies effectively.

Notable speakers included Hon’ble Mr. Dipak Misra, Former Chief Justice of India; Hon’ble Justice Dominique Hascher, Judge at the Supreme Court of France; Prof. Joel Moneger from Dauphine University, Paris; Prof. Jacques Larrieu from the University of Toulouse, France; and Mr. Arthur Gaudron, Project In-Charge at the Center for Robotics, MINES ParisTech, PSL Research University, Paris. These experts provided diverse perspectives on the intersection of AI and law, enriching the conference discussions.

The conference was designed for academicians, research scholars, students, advocates, and industry experts interested in the legal aspects of AI.
