The Sedona Conference Working Group 11 Annual Meeting 2020, originally scheduled for March 18-19, 2020, was organized by The Sedona Conference, a nonprofit institute dedicated to advancing law and policy in areas such as data security and privacy. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was converted to an online format to ensure the safety of participants.
The meeting focused on reviewing and commenting on new drafts concerning topics like the reasonable security test, model data breach notification law, U.S. judicial enforcement of orders under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), proactive privacy and data security, and quantifying violations under U.S. privacy laws. Additional sessions addressed trends in mandatory data portability, a government agency roundtable, and emerging trends in health data and healthcare privacy and data security law.
Notable dialogue leaders included Mark T. Bailey from the Office of the Colorado Attorney General, Kate Baxter-Kauf of Lockridge Grindal Nauen PLLP, and Robert E. Cattanach from Dorsey & Whitney LLP, among others. Their expertise contributed to in-depth discussions and analyses of the pressing issues in data security and privacy.
The event was particularly beneficial for legal professionals, policymakers, and industry experts involved in data security and privacy. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with leading authorities, gain insights into current challenges, and contribute to the development of best practices in the field.
