The Computers, Privacy, and Data Protection (CPDP) Conference is an annual three-day event dedicated to privacy and data protection. Organized by a multidisciplinary team, CPDP brings together academics, lawyers, practitioners, policymakers, industry representatives, and civil society members from around the world to exchange ideas and discuss emerging issues and trends in the field.
The 2021 edition, held from January 27 to 29, focused on the theme "Enforcing Rights in a Changing World." Key topics included the impact of the global pandemic on privacy, the role of contact tracing apps, immunity passports, and the shift to online services such as telemedicine and virtual classrooms. Discussions also addressed the challenges of maintaining data protection and privacy in the post-pandemic era.
The conference featured a variety of sessions, including panel discussions, workshops, and keynote speeches. Notable speakers included EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders and representatives from the Business Software Alliance. The event also provided networking opportunities through its virtual platform, allowing participants to engage with peers and experts in the field.
CPDP 2021 was particularly relevant for professionals involved in privacy and data protection, including legal experts, policymakers, technologists, and academics. Attendees gained insights into the latest developments, challenges, and solutions in the rapidly evolving landscape of data protection and privacy.
