The Sedona Conference Webinar on Patent Litigation Best Practices: A Matter for Congress or for Bench and Bar?

by The Sedona Conference

The Sedona Conference Webinar on Patent Litigation Best Practices: A Matter for Congress or for Bench and Bar? is a virtual event organized by The Sedona Conference, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in areas such as antitrust law, complex litigation, intellectual property rights, and data security and privacy law. The conference aims to move the law forward in a reasoned and just way through the creation and publication of nonpartisan consensus commentaries and through advanced legal education for the bench and bar.

This webinar features a panel of leading corporate practitioners and judges who will discuss proposed legislation following the America Invents Act (AIA) and a Patent Pilot Program launched as part of the AIA’s reform of U.S. patent law. The Pilot Program was designed as a 10-year project to provide objective data on whether changes are needed in the way the courts resolve patent disputes and to develop recommendations based on actual experience. Topics covered include pending legislative bills and their likely impact on the quality and efficiency of patent litigation, the effect these bills would have on the level of discretion federal judges could exercise in managing patent cases, and whether the legislative concerns underlying these bills can be addressed by the Patent Pilot Program and the development of patent litigation best practices by those in the field.

The panel will take questions from attendees by text and telephone during the program. The event is scheduled to take place from 1:00 to 2:30 pm EST. System requirements for participation are available on the event website.

This webinar is intended for legal professionals, including litigators, in-house counsel, judges, and others involved in patent litigation. It provides an opportunity to gain insights into proposed legislative changes and their potential impact on patent litigation practices.
