Alaska Bar Association Annual Meeting 2022

by Alaska Bar Association

The Alaska Bar Association Annual Convention is a premier event organized by the Alaska Bar Association, bringing together legal professionals from across the state to engage in continuing legal education (CLE), professional development, and networking opportunities. The 2022 convention was held from October 26 to October 28 at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

The convention featured a diverse range of sessions covering critical topics such as U.S. Supreme Court opinions, Alaska appellate law updates, negotiation strategies for litigators and transactional lawyers, legal writing, strategic planning for law firms, and ethics in the legal profession. Notable speakers included Dean Erwin Chemerinsky from the University of California Berkeley Law School, Professor Laurie Levenson from Loyola Law School, and Elie Mystal from The Nation Magazine.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in various networking events, including a welcome reception at the Alaska Native Heritage Center and a banquet dinner featuring keynote speaker Professor Victoria Nourse from Georgetown University Law Center. The convention also offered a companion fare program, allowing new lawyers to pair with more experienced attorneys to attend CLE sessions at a reduced rate.

This convention was ideal for legal professionals seeking to stay updated on recent developments in the law, enhance their skills through CLE sessions, and connect with peers and leaders in the Alaska legal community.
