by NYU Law Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship

The 2022 Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing – in the US and Beyond was a virtual event co-organized by the NYU Law Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship and the Impact Investing Legal Working Group. Held on June 7-8, 2022, the conference attracted students, lawyers, and other stakeholders from around the world to explore pressing legal, ethical, and social themes in social entrepreneurship and impact investing.

The conference featured two keynote speakers: Sonal Shah, Interim Executive Vice President at United Way, and John Coates, Professor of Law and Economics at Harvard Law School. The program included four panels and a workshop, covering topics such as blending finance to advance climate adaptation and resilience, inclusive design in impact instruments, legal implications of minority wealth equity strategies, and training lawyers for ESG, impact investing, and social enterprise practices. The event also hosted the annual Grunin Prize Ceremony.

The conference provided opportunities for networking among professionals in the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. Attendees engaged in discussions and shared insights on the evolving legal landscape affecting these sectors.

This event was particularly beneficial for legal professionals, social entrepreneurs, impact investors, and academics interested in the intersection of law and social impact.
