The Computers, Privacy & Data Protection (CPDP) Conference is an annual multidisciplinary event that brings together academics, lawyers, practitioners, policymakers, industry representatives, and civil society members from around the world to discuss the latest developments in privacy and data protection. Organized by a consortium of 20 academic centers of excellence from the EU, the US, and beyond, CPDP has established itself as a leading forum for rigorous, independent, and inclusive debate on these critical issues.
The 2022 edition of CPDP, held from May 23 to 25 in Brussels, focused on the theme "Data Protection & Privacy in Transitional Times." Key topics included the impact of artificial intelligence on data protection, the evolution of European digital regulations such as the AI Act and the Digital Services Act, and the societal changes prompted by the pandemic. Sessions addressed cutting-edge developments in cloud computing, ambient intelligence, and privacy-enhancing technologies, as well as pressing issues like data retention, property in personal data, and the right to personal identity.
In addition to panel discussions and keynote speeches, CPDP 2022 offered interactive workshops that facilitated in-depth exploration of specific topics. The conference also featured an expo hall showcasing the latest technologies and services in the field of privacy and data protection. Notable speakers included leading experts from academia, industry, and regulatory bodies, providing diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in the evolving digital landscape.
CPDP is particularly valuable for professionals involved in privacy and data protection, including legal experts, policymakers, technologists, and researchers. Attendees gain insights into emerging trends, engage in meaningful discussions with peers, and have the opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of data protection and privacy in a rapidly changing digital society.
