The EDPS Conference 2022, titled "The Future of Data Protection: Effective Enforcement in the Digital World," was organized by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) and held on June 16-17, 2022, in Brussels, Belgium. This event marked the tenth anniversary of the first draft of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and aimed to reflect on its functioning and efficiency.
Key topics included discussions on current enforcement models, the effectiveness of the One-Stop-Shop mechanism, and potential improvements to governance models. The event featured notable speakers like Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, and Věra Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency. It provided networking opportunities, including speed networking sessions, and breakout sessions covering various aspects of data protection enforcement.
