HELA's Spring Conference 2022, organized by the Harvard European Law Association, addressed legal challenges emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference featured three panels focusing on climate change mitigation, technology and truth, and access to medicines post-pandemic.
The first panel, "Climate Change Mitigation in the Era of COVID-19," included Justice Professor Susanne Baer from the German Federal Constitutional Court, Professor Kurt Faßbender from Leipzig University, and Seth Kerschner from White & Case New York. Moderated by Shaun A. Goho from Harvard Law School, the discussion compared European regulatory law with U.S. regulations and litigation on climate change.
The second panel, "Technology and Truth in the Age of the Pandemic," featured Professor Sofia Ranchordas from the University of Groningen, Professor Andrew Murray from the LSE Law School, and Dr. Damian Tambini from the LSE Department of Media and Communications. Moderated by Ilektra Antonaki, Référendaire at the General Court of the European Union, the panel examined issues such as misinformation, digital citizenship, and the EU's declaration of digital rights.
The final panel, "Medicines Development and Access to Medicines after COVID-19," included Cristiana Spontoni from Jones Day (Brussels), Professor Luca Arnaudo from Syracuse University College of Law, and James Love from Knowledge Ecology International. Moderated by Professor Ruth L. Okediji from Harvard Law School, the discussion focused on improving medicine development and access in the EU post-pandemic.
