The National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) organized the 2022 Consumer Rights Litigation Conference (CRLC) from November 10 to 13, 2022, in Seattle, Washington. This annual event convened consumer advocates, attorneys, and experts to discuss pressing issues in consumer law and to strategize on advancing consumer rights.
The conference featured a diverse array of sessions covering topics such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), consumer class actions, and innovative uses of state law principles to challenge arbitration. Attendees had access to written materials and video recordings from these sessions, providing valuable resources for ongoing education and advocacy efforts.
In addition to educational sessions, the CRLC offered networking opportunities, including a cocktail reception and the Consumer Class Action Symposium. A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Vern Countryman Award to New Mexico attorney Karen Meyers, recognizing her significant contributions to consumer law. The conference also honored three attorneys with the Rising Star Award for their emerging impact in the field.
The CRLC is designed for consumer law practitioners, legal aid attorneys, and advocates committed to protecting consumer rights. Attendees benefit from in-depth discussions, practical training, and the opportunity to connect with peers dedicated to economic justice.
