Annual HBCU IP & Tech Law Summit 2023

The Annual HBCU IP & Tech Law Summit is a collaborative event organized by the Institute for Intellectual Property and Social Justice (IIPSJ) and the Howard Law Artificial Intelligence Initiative. This summit aims to educate minority legal professionals on issues and opportunities within the tech industry, fostering a diverse pipeline to ensure the development of fair and accountable technologies.
The 2023 summit featured sessions on artificial intelligence, data security and privacy, technology in sports and entertainment, blockchain, and cybersecurity. These discussions provided attendees with insights into current trends and challenges in intellectual property and technology law.
Keynote speakers included Acting Principal Deputy National Cyber Director Kemba Eneas Walden, who shared her journey as a Hampton University graduate and addressed cybersecurity initiatives from the Office of the National Cyber Director. The event also offered networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with industry leaders and peers.
The summit is particularly beneficial for law students and legal professionals from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) seeking to expand their knowledge and network in the fields of intellectual property and technology law.
