Consumer Assembly 2023 is the 57th annual conference organized by the Consumer Federation of America (CFA), a nonprofit association dedicated to advancing consumer interests through research, advocacy, and education. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, and Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown in Washington, D.C.
The conference will cover a range of critical consumer issues, including banking and credit, communications, competition and regulation, consumer protection, energy, food and agriculture, housing, insurance, investor protection, privacy, product safety, and saving and spending. Sessions will feature expert panels, keynote addresses, and interactive discussions aimed at exploring current challenges and opportunities in these areas.
Attendees will have opportunities to network with fellow consumer advocates, policymakers, industry representatives, and academics. The event will also feature an expo hall showcasing the latest consumer products and services, as well as notable speakers who are leaders in consumer advocacy and policy.

Anna Flores leads Consumer Action, a national nonprofit dedicated to consumer rights and policies promoting fairness and financial prosperity for underrepresented consumers. She has extensive experience in consumer affairs, having served as Vice President of Consumer Affairs at American Express and Director of Consumer Programs for the AARP Foundation.
Heather Ansley
Associate Executive Director of Government Relations at Paralyzed Veterans of America
Heather Ansley manages PVA’s efforts on Capitol Hill and works with the Administration to promote legislation and policies ensuring veterans with significant disabilities receive the healthcare and benefits they have earned. She also promotes collaboration between disability organizations and veterans service organizations.
James Goodwin
Senior Policy Analyst at Center for Progressive Reform
James Goodwin studies and writes on progressive regulatory process reform, focusing on making the U.S. regulatory system more responsive to and inclusive of the public, and more attentive to racial justice and equity concerns. He has been with the Center for Progressive Reform since 2008.
Kamila Elliott

Kamila Elliott has over two decades of financial planning and investment experience, assisting high-net-worth individuals, endowments, foundations, and business owners with comprehensive wealth solutions. She was the 2022 Chair of the CFP Board, the first African American and one of the youngest ever to serve in the role. She holds a B.A. and MBA from The Pennsylvania State University.

Rachel Gittleman leads CFA’s advocacy and outreach on high-cost lending, payday loans, and other banking and credit issues. She represents CFA before federal and state financial regulators, Congress, and state legislatures, and has successfully led legislative and regulatory campaigns.
Rajashri Chakrabarti
Head of Equitable Growth Studies at Federal Reserve Bank of New York
Rajashri Chakrabarti leads Equitable Growth Studies within the Household and Public Policy Research Division at the New York Federal Reserve. Her research focuses on labor economics, consumer finance, and the economics of education, including educational investment decisions and future financial and economic outcomes. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University.
Sandra Eskin
Deputy Under Secretary for Food Safety at U.S. Department of Agriculture
Sandra Eskin leads the Office of Food Safety at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, overseeing the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which ensures that meat, poultry, and egg products are safe, wholesome, and accurately labeled. Prior to joining USDA, she was the Project Director for Food Safety at The Pew Charitable Trusts and has served on multiple federal advisory committees related to consumer information on prescription drugs, meat and poultry safety, and foodborne illness surveillance.
