4th Machine Lawyering Conference

The 4th Machine Lawyering Conference, held on May 23-24, 2024, was organized by the Centre for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (CLINDS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Faculty of Law. This annual conference has established itself as a premier global forum focusing on the intersection of law and digital technology.
The 2024 conference featured 27 papers selected from over 90 submissions through a rigorous anonymous peer review process. Key topics addressed included AI transparency and explainability, generative AI, content moderation, autonomous vehicles, data governance, financial technologies, and legal technologies. These discussions aimed to explore how law responds to the evolving landscape of digital technologies and emerging business models.
Notable speakers included Prof. Samuel Dahan from Queen's University, Prof. Rita Matulionyte from Macquarie Law School, and Prof. Jacob Noti-Victor from Cardozo School of Law, each delivering keynote addresses. The conference also recognized outstanding contributions through Best Paper Awards and Honorable Mentions, highlighting exceptional research in the field.
The event attracted esteemed scholars and practitioners from 20 institutions across 12 jurisdictions, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and promoting cross-pollination among participants. It provided valuable networking opportunities for academics, legal professionals, and technologists interested in the intersection of law and digital innovation.
