by David F. and Constance B. Girard-diCarlo Center for Ethics, Integrity and Compliance
The Lewis H. Gold ’62 Lecture on Ethics & Professional Responsibility is an annual event hosted by the David F. and Constance B. Girard-diCarlo Center for Ethics, Integrity and Compliance at Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law. This lecture series honors the memory of Lewis H. Gold, a distinguished advocate known for his strong ethical principles, and is made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor in collaboration with his family.
The 2024 lecture, titled "Two AI Truths and a Lie," will be presented by Woodrow Hartzog, a professor of law at Boston University School of Law. The presentation will explore the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in the legal profession, focusing on the challenges and responsibilities that arise as AI technologies become increasingly integrated into legal practices.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Laurence E. Hirsch '71 Classroom (Room 101) at John F. Scarpa Hall. Lunch will be provided in limited quantities, and a livestream link will be available on the event webpage for those who wish to join virtually.
This lecture is particularly relevant for legal professionals, scholars, and students interested in the intersection of technology and ethics within the legal field. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the evolving role of AI in law and the ethical considerations it entails.
