The 2024 National Lawyers Convention, organized by The Federalist Society, took place from November 14 to 16, 2024, at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. This annual event convened legal professionals, scholars, and policymakers to discuss pressing legal and public policy issues.
The convention's theme, "Group Identity and the Law," was explored through various showcase sessions and panel discussions. Key topics included the evolution and impact of group identity in the United States, legal approaches to addressing tribalism and polarization, and the intersection of sex, gender, and race with the law.
Attendees had opportunities to engage in networking events, such as the Antonin Scalia Memorial Dinner and the Barbara K. Olson Memorial Lecture. Notable speakers featured at the convention included Prof. Jonathan R. Turley, who delivered the Barbara K. Olson Memorial Lecture, and participants in the Sixteenth Annual Rosenkranz Debate on the resolution "That Congress Can Ban TikTok."
The convention was designed for legal professionals, academics, and students interested in constitutional law, civil rights, and the role of group identity in legal contexts. Participants could earn up to 16.25 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) hours, including up to 7.25 ethics hours, by attending in person.
