National Legal Mentoring Consortium Conference 2024
The National Legal Mentoring Consortium (NLMC) is hosting its 2024 Virtual Conference titled "The Future of Legal Mentoring: Navigating Supervised Practice, Technology, and A.I. While Maintaining Civility." This event is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2024, and will be conducted online, allowing participants from various locations to engage in discussions on the evolving landscape of legal mentoring.
The conference will cover a range of pertinent topics, including the Oregon model of supervised practice as an alternative to the bar exam, the impact of supervised practice portfolio examinations on state bars, law schools, and law firms, and the role of technology in facilitating virtual and matched-pair mentoring. Additionally, sessions will explore the implications of artificial intelligence for legal mentoring and the importance of professional identity and civility from law school through to practice.
Notable speakers include Chief Justice Meagan Flynn of the Oregon Supreme Court, Jordan Furlong, a strategic consultant and legal market analyst, and Maura Grossman, a research professor specializing in the application of machine learning technologies in law. The event will also feature panel discussions and virtual breakout rooms where vendors will demonstrate legal mentoring technologies, providing attendees with practical insights and tools to enhance their mentoring programs.
