The seminar "Perspectives on Generative AI: Reshaping Higher Education and Legal Practice" is a collaborative event organized by the Department of English and the School of Law at City University of Hong Kong. Scheduled for December 9, 2024, from 3:30 to 5:00 PM HKT, the seminar will take place in Room 6376, 6/F, Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chun Academic Building (AC2) at CityUHK, with an option to attend online via Zoom.

The event features distinguished speakers such as Nick Chan, BBS, MH, JP, an interdisciplinary lawyer with a background in computer science, and Dr. Benjamin Luke Moorhouse, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with these experts, participate in discussions, and network with peers interested in the intersection of AI, education, and law.

Benjamin Moorhouse

Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University

Dr. Benjamin Luke Moorhouse is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University. He chairs the e-learning committee at HKBU and previously led the task force responsible for drafting the principles and guidance of Generative AI use at the university. According to Stanford University, Dr. Moorhouse was in the top 2% of cited scholars worldwide in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Nick Chan

Partner at Squire Patton Boggs

Nick Chan is an interdisciplinary lawyer and lawmaker with a background in computer science. He chairs the Government’s $2 billion Innovation and Technology Venture Fund Advisory Committee, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Legal Committee, and the CUHK Knowledge Transfer Committee. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Law Society InnoTech Committee and heads the operations of AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre. Additionally, Mr. Chan is an elected Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress.
