The Privacy Laws & Business 37th International Conference, held from July 1-3, 2024, at St. John's College in Cambridge, UK, was organized by Privacy Laws & Business, a leading organization specializing in privacy laws and their impact on business. This annual event brought together regulators, companies, law firms, and academics from 16 countries to discuss and address current and future privacy law trends.
The conference featured 30 sessions over three days, covering a wide range of topics, including surveillance and facial recognition, new privacy laws and regulatory decisions, UK/EU alignment, vulnerable groups and online safety, adtech and consent models, data monetization strategies, managing data protection laws effectively, international data transfers, and the use of AI in compliance with privacy laws. Notable sessions included "Efforts to Improve GDPR Cross-Border Consistency," chaired by Rosa Barcelo, and "The Art of Clarity: Practical Insights into Crafting Transparent Privacy Notices, DSAR Response, and AI Explanations," featuring Laura Brodahl.
The event provided ample networking opportunities, allowing attendees to engage with experts and peers in the field. The conference also offered 12 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for participants.
This conference was ideal for privacy professionals, legal experts, policymakers, and business leaders seeking to stay informed about the latest developments in privacy laws and their practical applications.
