SITIE 2024: Generative AI: Infringement or Innovation

The Seventh Annual Innovation and Technology Law Conference, titled "Generative AI: Infringement or Innovation?", was organized by Seattle University School of Law. This virtual event, held on May 31, 2024, was part of the Summer Institute for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (SITIE) and sponsored by the school's Technology, Innovation Law, and Ethics (TILE) Program, the Seattle Journal of Technology, Environmental & Innovation Law (SJTEIL), and Miller Nash LLP.

The conference addressed a range of pressing legal issues arising from the advent of generative artificial intelligence. Key topics included the use of generative AI by legal professionals, the copyright status of AI-generated outputs, the implications of AI training on existing works without attribution or compensation, and the potential legal liabilities associated with AI-generated content.
