The Spring 2024 Commencement is a celebratory event organized by the University of Maryland's College of Information Studies (INFO). This ceremony honors the achievements of graduates from Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024, marking the culmination of their academic journey.
The commencement program includes a faculty processional, welcome and introductions by Dean Keith Marzullo, and a keynote address by Lee J. Tiedrich, J.D., a distinguished leader in artificial intelligence and data law. The event also features the conferral of doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate degrees, with speeches from selected student representatives, and concludes with closing remarks and a recessional.
The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 4:00 PM, and will take place at the Xfinity Center on the University of Maryland's College Park campus. Graduates are required to register by April 9, 2024, to participate. Parents and families do not need tickets to attend unless they are part of a group of 20 or more.
This event is an opportunity for graduates to celebrate their accomplishments alongside peers, faculty, and loved ones. Attendees will gain inspiration from the keynote speaker and student addresses, and participate in a time-honored tradition that signifies the transition from student to alumnus.
