The Sedona Conference on AI and the Law is a series of conferences organized by The Sedona Conference, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to advancing the study of law and policy. These conferences aim to address the evolving intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and legal practice, providing a platform for dialogue among legal professionals, technologists, and policymakers.

The inaugural conference, Part 1: AI and Civil Litigation, was held on April 4-5, 2024, focusing on the impact of AI on civil litigation practices. Key topics included the fundamentals of AI, its applications in legal practice, issues of validity, reliability, and bias, professional responsibility concerns, privacy and data security challenges, AI's role in human resources and employment law, admissibility of AI-generated evidence, and judicial and regulatory responses to AI.

Part 2: AI and Intellectual Property Law took place on June 20-21, 2024, concentrating on AI's influence within intellectual property law. Discussions covered AI's role in invention and patent prosecution, challenges in patent infringement and validity actions, trade secret issues presented by AI, and AI's impact on copyright law, including recent case law reviews.

These conferences featured expert faculty comprising seasoned litigators, data scientists, judges, and other professionals leading participatory dialogues. Attendees had opportunities for networking during receptions and meals, and the events were designed to foster active participation in discussions on AI's role in the legal field.
