The 2024 Third Circuit Chapters Conference is an in-person event organized by the Federalist Society's Third Circuit chapters, including the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Delaware, New Jersey, and Harrisburg Lawyers Chapters. Scheduled for June 21, 2024, the conference will be held at The Pyramid Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The conference will feature several panels addressing critical legal topics. Panel I, titled "Threats to Judicial Independence and How the Legal Community Should Respond," will discuss recent challenges to judicial independence and the increasing politicization of attacks on the federal judiciary. Panel II, "The Legacy of the Founders: Originalism and the Constitution," will explore the utility and importance of originalism in constitutional interpretation. Panel III, "DEI in the Workplace and on Campus Post-SFFA," will examine the implications of the Supreme Court's decision in Students for Fair Admissions on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in educational and workplace settings.
Attendees will have opportunities for networking during the lunch and keynote address, as well as at the closing reception. Notable speakers include Hon. Richard Sullivan, Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit; Prof. Akhil R. Amar, Sterling Professor of Law at Yale Law School; and Hon. Janet Dhillon, former Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
This conference is ideal for legal professionals, academics, and students interested in contemporary legal issues and constitutional interpretation. It offers a platform to engage with esteemed judges, scholars, and practitioners on pressing topics affecting the legal community.
