Making Digital Markets Work for People – Fairness, Efficiency and Consumer Welfare in Dialogue
The "Making Digital Markets Work for People – Fairness, Efficiency and Consumer Welfare in Dialogue" conference, held on February 7, 2025, in Lund, Sweden, was organized by Behrang Kianzad and Johan Axhamn from Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), along with Fabrizio Esposito from Nova Law School, Lisbon. The event was a collaborative effort with the Lund University Centre for Business Law (ACLU) and received support from the Centre for European Studies and Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
The conference focused on the intersection of fairness and competition law within digital and AI markets, particularly in light of recent EU regulations such as the Digital Markets Act and the EU AI Act. Additionally, Johan Sahl, Head of Unit at the Swedish Competition Authority, contributed to the event. The conference also featured presentations from leading and emerging Nordic and European scholars, addressing topics such as the Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act, and AI Act, and their impact on fairness, efficiency, and consumer welfare in digital markets.
The event provided a platform for academics, policymakers, and industry professionals to engage in meaningful dialogue on the challenges and opportunities presented by the evolving digital landscape.
