by UEF Law School

The 10th Annual Energy Transitions Conference 2026, organized by the UEF Law School in collaboration with the UEF Centre for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law (CCEEL), will be held on February 19-20, 2026, in Joensuu, Finland. This conference aims to bridge the gap between academic scholarship and practical application in the field of energy law, fostering dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.

The conference will cover a range of critical topics, including theorizing and conceptualizing energy law, interdisciplinary and international approaches, emerging trends in energy governance, low-carbon energy technologies, legal aspects across the energy value chain, and conflict resolution in the energy sector. A plenary session titled "Unpacking the Evolution and Future of Energy Law: Insights from Academia and Practice" will feature speakers such as Wouter Vandorpe, Partner at Baker McKenzie, and Oliver Hailes, Assistant Professor of Law at the London School of Economics.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in various sessions and engage in discussions that connect theoretical frameworks with real-world applications. Additionally, a social program is planned, including an optional weekend at a spa resort in Koli National Park from February 20-22, 2026, with transportation provided by the organizers. Spouses are welcome to join the social activities.

This conference is ideal for legal scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and students interested in energy law and policy. It offers a platform to explore current challenges and future developments in the energy sector, providing valuable insights and networking opportunities for those committed to advancing the field.
