by University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law Office of Continuing Legal Education

The Artificial Intelligence and the Law 2026 Winter Summit is an inaugural event organized by the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law's Office of Continuing Legal Education, in partnership with the Fayette County Bar Association. This summit aims to address the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in the legal profession, providing attendees with insights into its ethical and practical applications.

Key topics covered include the evolution of artificial intelligence, its benefits, and best practices, as presented by Professor Christina Lowry, Law Practice & Technology Librarian at the UK Rosenberg College of Law. Attorney Shelly Ann Kamei of Kentucky Legacy Law will discuss the integration of AI tools in estate planning and elder law practices, while attorney Kyle Bunnell from Dinsmore will explore the practical uses and ethical implications of AI for attorneys.

The program offers both in-person attendance at the UK J. David Rosenberg College of Law in Lexington, Kentucky, and a live-streaming option via Zoom. Light refreshments will be provided during the event, and the sessions will be recorded for on-demand access. Paid visitor parking is available at multiple locations around campus; attendees are encouraged to plan ahead by visiting the university's transportation website.

This summit is designed for attorneys, legal practitioners, law firm IT specialists, and law students interested in understanding how to responsibly, safely, practically, and ethically incorporate AI into their practice. It provides a valuable opportunity to stay abreast of changes in the law, develop practical skills, and maintain a high degree of professionalism in the practice of law.
