Artificial Intelligence Initiative Conference

by Silicon Flatirons Center

The Artificial Intelligence Initiative Conference, titled "Using AI Well — and Building a Data Infrastructure to Support It," is a day-long event organized by the Silicon Flatirons Center at the University of Colorado Law School. This conference aims to examine the impact of artificial intelligence on law, the legal system, and society by bringing together thought leaders from academia, government, business, and non-profits for rigorous, evidence-based discussions on AI public policy.

The morning sessions will focus on how AI is transforming various aspects of daily life, including established use cases and emerging best practices in utilizing AI effectively. Keynote remarks and panel discussions will delve into topics such as AI's role in trust and safety work, content moderation, fraud detection, and child protection, highlighting both opportunities and challenges presented by generative AI.

In the afternoon, the conference will shift attention to the imperative of developing a robust data infrastructure to support responsible AI expansion. Discussions will explore the economic and quality-of-life implications of AI data infrastructure deployment, balancing demand considerations driving data center investments with supply perspectives on resource and regulatory approaches in energy, environment, water, and land use.

Attendees will have opportunities for networking during the lunch break and a closing reception. The event will feature notable speakers, including Professor Harry Surden from the University of Colorado Law School, and panelists from organizations such as Tripadvisor, Thorn, and Slalom. This conference is ideal for professionals, academics, policymakers, and students interested in the intersection of AI, law, and public policy, offering valuable insights into the responsible use and infrastructure development of AI technologies.
