The Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy (CBLA) is an innovative program jointly organized by the American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, National Bar Association, National LGBT Bar Association, National Native American Bar Association, and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Since its inception in 2013, the CBLA has been dedicated to strengthening the pipeline of diverse bar association leaders through comprehensive leadership training and professional development programs.
The academy covers a range of key topics essential for emerging leaders, including leadership skills development, effective bar association management, and strategies for fostering diversity and inclusion within the legal profession. Participants engage in interactive sessions designed to enhance their ability to lead and serve within their respective organizations.
In addition to educational sessions, the CBLA offers practical opportunities such as networking events with leaders from various national bar associations, workshops on organizing and operating bar associations, and panels featuring leading experts in the field. These activities are aimed at promoting interaction, participation, and the development of a close-knit community among future bar leaders.
The CBLA is ideal for current and aspiring bar association leaders seeking to develop the skills necessary to lead local and national organizations effectively. Attendees will benefit from a supportive environment that fosters the exchange of ideas and experiences, preparing them to take on significant leadership roles within the legal community.
