Save the Date: Join the NTBA at the U.S. Supreme Court on December 1, 2026

by National Trans Bar Association

On December 1, 2026, the National Trans Bar Association (NTBA) will sponsor a group admission ceremony at the United States Supreme Court, inviting transgender and nonbinary attorneys to be sworn into the Supreme Court Bar. This event underscores NTBA's commitment to enhancing the visibility and inclusion of transgender and nonbinary legal professionals within the highest levels of the American justice system.

Since its inaugural ceremony, NTBA has facilitated the admission of 41 attorneys before the full bench of the Supreme Court, including 11 members in the 2025 ceremony. This initiative serves as a powerful affirmation of the essential role that transgender and nonbinary attorneys play in the legal profession.

Eligible applicants must have been admitted to practice in their home state for a minimum of three years and be available to appear in Washington, D.C., on the morning of December 1, 2026. The application process includes completing and returning the required forms by the anticipated deadline in late summer 2026 and paying a one-time, lifetime Supreme Court Bar admission fee of $200. NTBA is committed to ensuring financial need is not a barrier to participation and has historically covered the admission fee for those in need.

This event is particularly significant for transgender and nonbinary attorneys seeking to achieve a notable professional milestone and to contribute to the ongoing efforts toward greater representation and equity within the legal system.
