2026 Trial Advocacy 1 Course

by Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC)

The 2026 Trial Advocacy 1 Course is a comprehensive three-day program organized by the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC). Designed specifically for current Indiana deputy prosecuting attorneys, particularly those new to prosecution with limited jury trial experience, this course aims to enhance courtroom skills and trial advocacy techniques.

Participants will receive training on key topics essential to effective prosecution, including domestic violence cases, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (OVWI), and drug-related offenses. The curriculum emphasizes general trial skills crucial for securing guilty verdicts. Attendees will engage in practical exercises, conducting various segments of a mock trial—from jury selection to closing arguments. Each session is followed by personalized feedback from experienced prosecutor faculty members to refine participants' courtroom performance.

The course is scheduled for April 28-30, 2026, in Indianapolis. Registration is limited to 42 students and is offered free of charge. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Attendees are required to participate fully throughout the course duration. For further inquiries, participants are encouraged to contact IPAC directly.

This training is ideal for deputy prosecuting attorneys seeking to develop and enhance their trial advocacy skills. By participating, attendees will gain practical experience and receive constructive feedback, equipping them with the tools necessary for effective courtroom prosecution.
