Trial College: Advanced Case Development

Trial College: Advanced Case Development is an intensive five-day program designed to enhance the courtroom communication skills of criminal defense attorneys. Organized by the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM), this in-person event will take place from August 23 to August 27, 2026, at the Bay City Doubletree Hilton in Bay City, Michigan.

The program focuses on the mechanics of persuasion and credibility, emphasizing interactive, on-your-feet training rather than passive lectures. Participants will engage in sessions that run from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, providing comprehensive, hands-on experience. The faculty includes Michigan's most experienced criminal defense attorneys and internationally recognized trial consultant Joshua Karton.

Enhancements for the 2026 program include an increased faculty-to-student ratio of 1:3, a higher number of training hours, the addition of a Sunday night group dinner, and enhanced hands-on training activities. This immersive experience is tailored for attorneys seeking to refine their trial skills and courtroom presence.
