Judge Robert M. Dow
United States District Judge, Counselor to the Chief Justice
Robert M. Dow, Jr. has served as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois since December 2007. In December 2022, he assumed duties as Counselor to Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., serving as the Supreme Court’s chief operating officer and assisting in administrative responsibilities. Judge Dow has served on the Judicial Conference’s Advisory Committee on Civil Rules and teaches complex litigation as an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
