All-Sedona Online Town Hall Forum on Police Brutality and Systemic Racial Injustice
The All-Sedona Online Town Hall Forum on Police Brutality and Systemic Racial Injustice was a virtual event organized by The Sedona Conference, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy. Held on June 23, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. EDT, the forum aimed to engage members in a dialogue addressing police brutality and systemic racial injustice. The event was free and open to all current Sedona Conference Working Group Series members and sponsors, with prior registration required.
The forum featured dialogue leaders who suggested and entertained ways in which The Sedona Conference and its members could lead initiatives to seek an end to police brutality and misconduct. Discussions included the creation of new Sedona Conference materials, such as a Proclamation on Justice and Equality, and addressing the line separating the legal use of reasonable force from the illegal use of unreasonable or excessive force. Participants also considered the formation of a new working group on Pro Bono Representation and Civil Rights to support these initiatives on an ongoing basis.
The dialogue leaders for the forum were:
- Hon. Cathy Bissoon, U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
- Dawson Horn III, AIG, New York, NY, USA
- Anthony Lowe, DATALAW PLLC, Chantilly, VA, USA
- Hon. Nandor Vadas (ret.), adr services, inc., San Francisco, CA, USA
