The Sedona Conference Working Group 6 Annual Meeting 2023 was a specialized gathering focused on international electronic information management, discovery, and disclosure. Organized by The Sedona Conference, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to advancing law and policy in areas such as antitrust, complex litigation, intellectual property rights, and data security and privacy law, the event took place at the Royal Garden Hotel in London, United Kingdom, on January 11-12, 2023. A welcome reception was held on the evening of January 10, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00.
The meeting's primary focus was on reviewing and discussing new drafts and brainstorming group outlines, including the Draft International Litigation Principles, Second Edition, Draft Commentary on Principles and Best Practices for Addressing Data Risks Associated with Dawn Raids in Cross-Border Investigations, Draft International Arbitration Principles, Discovery Under 28 U.S.C. § 1782, Operationalizing the Hague Evidence Convention and other mechanisms for cross-border data transfers, Cross-border data and information governance – practical considerations for global compliance, Global Incident Response Section of WG11 Draft Incident Response Guide, Second Edition, and Exporting data from the People’s Republic of China. Additionally, sessions covered case law and regulatory developments, as well as a WG6 town hall.
The event featured a reception on the evening of January 11, 2023, from 17:00 to 19:00, where attendees had the opportunity to network and discuss the day's sessions. The meeting also included a Corporate Counsel Meeting on January 12, 2023, from 13:30 to 15:00, providing a forum for corporate counsel to discuss and benchmark cross-border transfer best practices in a more relaxed and informal setting.
This event was particularly beneficial for legal professionals, corporate counsel, and experts involved in international electronic information management, discovery, and disclosure.
